Many clays can be used for sculpture projects but a it is important to choose one that does not shrink excessively, warp in drying or firing, and is formulated for the firing temperature in your kiln. Sculpture clays can contain “gritty” particles (grog or other inert materials) all of which cut shrinkage and warping but decrease plasticity to some degree. It is best to test several clays first to determine workability and fired color for your ceramic requirements.
