MBG131 Oxblood

Oxblood is a specialized glaze that produces a true copper red in an electric kiln without requiring a special firing process. This is achieved by a chemical in the glaze that causes it to reduce locally. For the best results, the glaze must be applied very thickly to produce the rich red color. Where the application is thinner, the glaze may turn clear or have grayish tones.

Part of the Copper and Iron Glazes series, Oxblood offers a traditional and striking aesthetic. Like other glazes in this series, it is durable and can be used for functional ware.
