Ash is a popular mid fire stoneware clay body that is white to off-white in color. This clay is designed for functional or sculptural use incorporating kaolin (a white-firing high-temperature clay), ball clay (for increased plasticity), feldspar (acts with flint to increase melting), and other clay additives. Ash also includes a light mesh sand to improve dry strength - works well in oxidation or reduction kiln atmospheres, where it fires off-white to light grey.
