Die Mask

The 4" extruder dies are constructed from 1/2" HDPE (High Density Polyethylene), renowned for its exceptional wear resistance and non-contaminating properties. The die cavities feature a beveled top edge, which aids in compacting the clay as it passes through, resulting in a more defined and solid extrusion. For hollow dies, both the interior and exterior portions under each side of the bracket are beveled. This design facilitates the extrusion to "heal" after being cut apart by the bracket. The bracket securely fits into a slot machined into the top of the hollow die and is held in place by the extruder's barrel. Mounting a hollow die ensures that the center part of the die is correctly positioned, resulting in even wall thickness all around. Extrusions with an outer diameter of 3-1/2 inches or less have walls that are 1/4 inch thick, while larger pieces feature 5/16 inch walls. We offer a variety of stock 4" dies, and custom dies can be quickly produced at a reasonable cost.
