Dover is the whitest of our stoneware clay bodies and fires as a mid to high-fire clay body, ranging from Cone 6 to 10. With a buttery-smooth consistency, this clay body is perfect for wheel throwing and is also available with Sand for working off the wheel.
This clay body is a blend of high-quality white clays and precisely-controlled ceramic materials that maintains ideal qualities compatible in throwing and hand building. Dover fires to a lush white in oxidation and reduction kiln atmospheres.
Dover can impart traditional orange peel effects in salt or soda kilns due to the sodium in the kiln atmosphere reacting with the alumina and silica in the clay body.
